A new Nintendo Switch OLED special edition console is launching in a little over a month, the Japanese company announced today during its dedicated Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct.

The special edition console, whose existence was leaked yesterday, is the Mario Red Edition console. Sporting a red coloring for both the console and its accessories, this new edition of the popular console celebrating one of gaming's most popular characters will be released a few days before the launch of the next entry in the Super Mario Bros. series on October 10th worldwide.

As mentioned above, the new Nintendo Switch OLED Mario Red Edition console was announced during today's Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct, which provided a new look at the 2D platform game launching On October 20th worldwide. You can check out the Direct in full below.

Given how the Nintendo Switch 2 may not be too far from release, this is likely the final special edition of the original hybrid console by Nintendo to get produced. Very little is currently known about the next console by the Japanese company, but some rumors suggest that it will come with some new features, such as a new camera function, expanded internal storage over its predecessor, and more.

The Nintendo Switch OLED Mario Red Edition console will launch on October 10th, 2023 worldwide. The console will be followed by Super Mario Bros. Wonder ten days later, on October 20th.
