After months of speculation from former employees and suggestions from company executives, it is now official: the Nintendo Switch 2 price will increase worldwide starting this September in North America, Europe and Japan. The price of the Nintendo Online subscription is also increasing, although only for Japan and South Korea at this time.
"Given that the impact of various changes in market conditions is expected to extend over the medium to long term, price revisions are planned outside Japan," the company wrote in a new letter posted on its official website. You can find the breakdown of the price increases for the United States, Canada, and Europe below.
| Region | Current Price | Revised Price |
| United States | $449.99 | $499.99 |
| Canada | $629.99 | $679.99 |
| Europe | €469.99 | €499.99 |
These price increases will go into effect from September 1, 2026 so until then, the Nintendo Switch 2 is effectively on sale at a price we are unlikely to see officially for some time, given the ongoing economic tensions that see no sign of abating anytime soon.
In Japan, the price increase for the Nintendo Switch 2 Japanese-Language System is accompanied by a price increase for all models of the original Switch and the Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

| Family membership 12 months | ¥4,500 | ¥5,800 |

"We sincerely apologize for the impact these price revisions may have on our customers and other stakeholders, and we deeply appreciate your understanding," the company said at the end of today's message. Although these price hikes were expected, given the global economic tensions, it's still disappointing to see how gaming is increasingly becoming a much more expensive hobby.
