Nintendo is currently working on the company's next console codenamed Nintendo NX. There isn't a whole lot we know about the console, but rumors circulating online seem to suggest it will be a home console / handheld hybrid. A few hours ago, the Wall Street Journal has reported something interesting about Nintendo's plans for the current year.
According to Hiroshi Hayase, an analyst from IHS, Nintendo is likely to release a new handheld device this year. Mr. Hayase stated that he expects a small recovery in shipments of flat-panel displays for game devices in Japan because of Nintendo's new game hardware which is apparently going to be released in 2016.

Mr. Hayase didn't specify what size of display Nintendo is going to use for its new device, but he expects the product to be a stand-alone portable gaming machine.

Even though very little is known about the upcoming Nintendo NX, expectations are very high. Yesterday a rumor regarding titles in development for the console started circulating online, stating that Bandai Namco is currently developing several NX titles. Among them is apparently a Smash Bros title, but it's not yet known if it's an entirely new game or a port of Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS.
The Nintendo NX will be revealed in full sometime this year. We will keep you updated on Nintendo's mysterious console as soon as more comes in on it so stay tuned for all the latest news.
