Apple Intelligence Infused Siri gets some major improvements with iOS 18.1 beta version

Apple introduced its take on AI by bringing forward its own version of the capabilities, namely Apple Intelligence, which the company would be introducing with iOS 18. While the initial beta for iOS 18.1 was rolled out recently for developers, it did not carry the full suite of features Apple announced at WWDC. A smarter Siri update leveraging the AI capabilities was the main focus for users and tech enthusiasts, and it is here to assist users better through more contextual understanding.

Siri in the iOS 18.1 beta update marks the beginning of a new era for the virtual assistant as it is bringing Apple Intelligence-driven advanced capabilities and undergoing major design changes. The floating orb is replaced with glowing light animation across the display, making it visually more appealing and powerful.

Siri not only comes with a new lit-up design but is also packed with deeper knowledge and understanding to better grasp varied contexts and respond according to the user's requirements. Some hiccups can be expected when Siri is prompted due to the Apple Intelligence-infused upgrade still being in the beta version.

One of the biggest issues when interacting with Siri was its lack of ability to understand user intent, which gives room for errors in speaking and trying to overcome minor mistakes. Now, with the new update, even if you tend to stumble during requests, it is more equipped to tackle it by trying to interpret the given request better. Siri update also welcomes typed requests by allowing Siri to be activated in typing mode with the help of double tapping on the Home bar.

Although more advanced in-app actions and knowledge will be coming out later, Siri has been trained by Apple to better assist with Apple products and features, give recommendations, and provide guidelines on using a certain feature or function within the devices.

The company announced at WWDC that Apple Intelligence-infused Siri will be completely personalized and more smartly driven by understanding the user's personal context and responding accordingly. While this advancement was rumored to not come out until 2025, a report by the Wall Street Journal suggests that we could see Siri's personalized capabilities coming out at the end of this year.

Before the New Year’s Eve ball drops, Siri will get ChatGPT integration and the ability to tap in to your personal context. (Example: “When should I leave to get mom from the airport?

Although Siri received some key improvements with the release of iOS 18.1 beta, we look forward to the virtual assistant being more equipped later on with the help of Apple Intelligence and the several updates it's bringing along, such as ChatGPT integration and a better understanding of personal context.
