The OnePlus 12 will be going official for the international markets later today. The phone is already available to purchase in China, but you will now be able to buy it in almost all the major regions around the world. This means that there can be a lot of information leading up to the official announcement, and today, we get complete details on the new and improved camera system found on the new phone.

OnePlus is really banking on the camera system of the OnePlus 12 as it looks to provide a stellar experience across the board

Over the past couple of years, the camera on OnePlus phones has really taken a hit, and the experience has been a mixed bag. The cameras on the OnePlus 10 Pro were average at best, with the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus Open finally making a big splash in terms of image quality. Now, the OnePlus 12 is aiming to make the difference even bigger by bringing flagship cameras to a flagship device.

For starters, the source claims that the OnePlus 12 will have an "industry first" customized Sony LYT-808 primary sensor, which is 1/1.4-inch in size. The sensor size alone will let 50% more light into the sensor when compared to the Sony IMX890 that is found on the OnePlus 11. The company promises that you will get remarkable details and clarity," and there is a filter that will help reduce red glare and artifacts in images.

Aside from an impressive primary camera, the OnePlus 12 also comes with a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, and 120x hybrid zoom. The sensor here is an OmniVision OV64B 1/2-inch sensor with f/2.6 aperture. This might not seem like a big deal, but the sensor happens to be 76% larger than the one found in the OnePlus 11, which ensures that you are going to get much better results.

The OnePlus 12 will also bring the latest HDR algorithm, and according to the company, it is going to be able to replicate the interplay effects of natural lights and shadows" just so it can deliver pictures that look much better than any other phone in the market. Surprisingly, there is no mention of AI anywhere, but you never know what is happening behind the scenes with the latest phones.

The Portrait Mode on OnePlus 12 also has a new focal length that "embodies the iconic Hasselblad style," the new focal length is put in place to simulate the Bokeh that is found on the lenses such as  Hasselblad XCD 30, 65, and 90V. Last but not least, the Pro Mode has also received a rebranding and is now known as Master Mode, so that is something that I am really looking forward to seeing.

Overall, the OnePlus 12 looks very impressive, not just on paper but based on everything that we have learned so far. One can only hope that the company is able to deliver on all fronts and give us the solid flagship experience we have been waiting for so long.
