More connector-less motherboards are reportedly coming to the market as MSI prepares three 800-series models with the Project Zero concept.
MSI's AMD and Intel 800-Series Motherboards Spotted; All of Them are the Micro-ATX Boards with Connectors at the Back
A few motherboard makers introduced their proprietary concept a few years ago, illustrating how PC builds can be done neatly with most cables hidden from sight. While these "connector-less" motherboards haven't been widely adopted, some motherboard makers are continuing to expand their catalogs with newer models.
MSI, which introduced its Project Zero concept for the connector-less motherboards, has not yet launched a single connector-less X870 board for the AMD platform, but has two motherboards in the B850 series, including the B850 Gaming Plus WiFi PZ and the recently launched PRO B850M-A WiFi PZ, which we will talk about soon. Moreover, it does have a PRO Z890-S WiFI PZ, the only Intel 800-series motherboard with such a design. The leaker @momomo_us has leaked a few models MSI has reportedly prepared with Project Zero design and these include one model for the AMD and two for Intel's latest-gen processors.
All these belong to the Pro series and with the Micro-ATX form-factor, which is quite interesting, since we do not have many connector-less motherboards with this form-factor. Nonetheless, for AMD, it has prepared the PRO B850M-A WiFi PZ, which we can also find on the official website. The board brings four PCIe x16 slots, which is quite a rare sight on an M-ATX board. The board has square heat sinks with a silverish color theme, which is what we saw on previous MSI PZ motherboards.
We can see that the motherboard has an 8+4 EPS connector combo at the back, a regular 24-pin ATX power connector, USB 3.0, USB Type-C, SATA ports, a PCIe 8-pin connector (for GPUs), and several fan, RGB/ARGB, and front-panel headers as well. The other two motherboard models are the PRO B860M-A WiFi PZ and the PRO B860M-VC WiFi PZ with Intel LGA 1851 socket. We don't know what they look like, but we expect a similar design as the AMD one, except for a few changes.
MSI hasn't yet officially confirmed such models, but we look forward to more details in the coming days.
