After a long string of rumors, Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios unveiled Mortal Kombat 1 with a CGI trailer yesterday.

The fighting game, scheduled to hit PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X and Nintendo Switch on September 19th, can now be pre-ordered on all platforms. As a result, the Steam and Epic Games Store Mortal Kombat 1 product pages were just updated with the game's minimum and recommended system requirements for PC.

MINIMUM:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-6600 | AMD Ryzen 3 3100 or Ryzen 5 2600
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 or AMD Radeon RX 470 or Intel Arc A750
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 100 GB available space
RECOMMENDED:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 | AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or Intel Arc A770
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 100 GB available space

These system requirements are relatively tame by current standards. In fact, they are slightly lower in some instances when compared to CAPCOM's Street Fighter 6, which requests a more powerful minimum AMD GPU (the RX 580 instead of the Mortal Kombat 1's RX 470) and more powerful Intel CPUs for both minimum and recommended configurations.

The recommended RAM is also lower compared to Street Fighter 6 (8GB vs. 16GB). However, Mortal Kombat 1 requires 40GB of additional storage space compared to CAPCOM's fighting game.

Mortal Kombat 1 was described as a reimagining of the universe created by the Fire God Liu Kang. As such, fans can expect to find renewed versions of characters like Liu Kang himself, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, and Johnny Cage.

NetherRealms also promised a new roster of 'partner characters' called Kameo Fighters. They'll assist the main characters during matches, expanding the gameplay options available to players.

Mortal Kombat 1 will also include new game modes, an overhauled fighting system, and rollback netcode for online matches. The critically acclaimed story mode made by NetherRealm comes back, too, as the developers tease surprising twists on long-time rivalries.

A beta will be available to pre-order customers, but only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X. As a reminder, NetherRealm is handling those versions of Mortal Kombat 1, while QLOC works on the PC version, and Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive take care of the Nintendo Switch port.
