This is one of the handful of eGPUs that come with the latest Thunderbolt 5 interface, closing the gap with PCIe interface.

Hardware maker MOREFINE has introduced its brand new external GPU dock called the G2, which brings the Blackwell-based NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB desktop GPU for powering mobile devices. This is one of the handful of external GPU docks that bring dual GPU connectivity options, including both Thunderbolt and OCuLink, offering a more versatile experience.

Apart from popular eGPU makers like ASUS and GIGABYTE, the MOREFINE G2 eGPU dock is equipped with the latest Thunderbolt 5 interface, bringing more bandwidth for faster performance. Traditionally, the performance on eGPUs are throttled due to the lack of native PCIe slots. Modern GPUs require faster PCIe interface for unlocking full performance, but OCuLink and Thunderbolt ports cannot yet compete with them. However, Thunderbolt 5 doubles the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 4 port, allowing up to 80 Gbps of bandwidth (63 Gb/s Effective) that is roughly equivalent to PCIe 4.0 x4 mode.

Many modern GPUs can't run at their full potential on PCIe 4.0 x4, but it's sufficient to unlock noticeable FPS in gaming, which wasn't possible with Thunderbolt 4 port. Similarly, OCuLink brings the same effective PCIe bandwidth of 63 Gbps that can allow better performance through the externally connected RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB dock. Remember that a RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB card connected via native PCIe 4.0 or PCIe 5.0 port with x8 or x16 mode will be far superior, but on mobile devices such as laptops and gaming handhelds, these eGPU docks come handy when their SoCs cannot fulfill the demands of intensive titles.

MOREFINE's G2 brings a compact footprint (140 x 100 x 54mm ) and is easy to carry around, thanks to the small and lightweight design. It is properly ventilated on multiple sides and is actively cooled by a high-speed fan that brings three different modes for quieter or faster performance: Silent mode, Auto mode, and Performance mode. With desktop GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB card, users will get 4608 CUDA cores, 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and powerful RT and Tensor cores to deliver superb performance in all scenarios.

MOREFINE has priced the G2 eGPU dock at $1,099 and is currently taking pre-orders for the machine. The company has announced May 20, 2026 as the "estimated" date of shipping, and it should be available in multiple regions, including US, EU, UK, and AU.
