Minisforum has confirmed additional details of its next-gen AMD Ryzen 8000 APU-powered 3-in-1 tablet which will feature a high-end display.
Minisforum Aims at Getting Ahead of The Curve With Adoption of AMD's Ryzen 8000 APUs, More Specs Detailed
The initial disclosure of the Minisforum 3-in-1 tablet was made almost a month ago when the PC maker teased users about what they had planned for the future. The Minisforum V3 3-in-1 is the company's first take in the tablet domain, and to stand out, they have become the first ones to announce the utilization of AMD's Ryzen 8000 APUs codenamed "Hawk Point". The V3 tablet is intended to be a direct competitor to Microsoft's Surface Pro, which is regarded as a "high-end" entrant in the tablet industry, due to its performance capabilities.

While Minisforum hasn't gone in-depth in the specifics of its "3-in-1" tablet yet, it has been revealed that the device will feature a 14-inch 2.5K resolution screen, with a refresh rate of 165Hz, providing users with the "sweet" spot of top-quality and smooth display. The Minisforum V3 holds all the traits of a tablet, along with a notebook and a portable screen, which is why it is convenient for someone who requires a portable workspace.
Now let's talk a bit about AMD's "Hawk Point" APUs. Based on what we know, the AMD Ryzen 8000 Hawk Point family will arrive early next year and act as a refresh to the existing Phoenix "Ryzen 7040" APUs. These APUs will reutilize the Zen 4 architecture, offering up to 8 cores and 16 threads. The chips will be compatible with the FP7/r2 and FP8 platforms while featuring support for DDR5/LPDDR5x memory. So in terms of generational upgrade, it isn't a big one ver the existing Phoenix APUs.
Minisforum revealed in a previous press release that the Minisforum V3 tablet will feature APUs in 22 and 28W designs. The company says that the product is at the "forefront" of technological innovation, and the preliminary adoption of Hawk Point APUs is a testament in itself. It will be interesting to see how Minisforum prices the device, given that it could potentially set the trend for other products utilizing the Ryzen 8000 APUs. Minisforum also expects 7-8 inch tablets as a follow-up to the V3.
