After years of almost complete silence following Hideo Kojima's departure from Konami, the Metal Gear Solid series has finally returned to the spotlight with Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 and last year's Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of the third entry in the series.
While it's unknown if the remake developed by Virtuos and Konami will be followed by any other series' remake or new entry in the series, we have learned during today's State of Play presentation that fans will soon get the chance to experienceMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 from August 27 with the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.2
The long-anticipated second volume of the series collection will finally break the fourth entry in the series free from its PlayStation 3 prison, finally allowing more fans to experience Solid Snake's final mission. Included in the collection's special edition alongside the former PlayStation 3 exclusive and Peace Walker, which originally released on PSP, will be Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, a Game Boy Color exclusive that feels like a modernization of Metal Gear 2's gameplay.
If you're planning to get the game on PC, you can check out the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. system requirements to see if your system has what it takes to run the game properly.
To celebrate the announcement of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.2, KONAMI is also releasing today an update for Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1. This update introduces a higher resolution option for Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for sharper text and visuals.
In addition, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater is now available at 50% off its full price, giving players the chance to experience last year's remake at a significantly reduced price. This should be enough to tide players over until the launch of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.2 on August 27, 2026.
Unfortunately, this announcement had an unexpected consequence. Months before the Master Collection Vol.2 release, KONAMI has delisted Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Peace Walker from digital stores.
