The release of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 this August marks a pivotal moment for the series created by Hideo Kojima, as it will finally bring Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots out of its PlayStation 3 exclusivity, allowing many to experience the end of Solid Snake's story. However, there's one more thing the remaster will bring an end to: the original's extremely long loading times.

This past weekend, Washagana TV gave viewers a first look at the highly anticipated remaster in a new livestream. Focused on Act 1: Liquid Sun set in the Middle East, the new footage revealed details, including a "back to the main menu" option and the presence of the iPod, which many expected would be removed. The biggest improvement over the original, however, is the load times, which are blazingly fast in the remaster.

The long load times of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on PlayStation 3 were caused by technical limitations of the hardware, and they were paired with an install-as-you-go system, which would delete data of the completed act and install that of the following act, resulting in long wait times that made the experience a chore to play at times. With these issues addressed on modern platforms, the remaster aims to be the definitive edition of the game, even if it doesn't add any new content.

Besides the fourth entry in the series, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.2 (whose PC system requirements are reasonable enough) includes Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, originally released on PSP as well as Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, a Game Boy Color exclusive game that will be available in the collection's special edition.
