Starlight colored MagSafe Charging Puck for iPhone

Apple could eventually launch an iPhone without ports, and MagSafe would serve as a viable alternative for charging. While it is too early to conclude, the company prototyped different MagSafe colors for the iPhone. It was previously discovered that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models could come with support for Qi2 wireless charging standard, which requires a magnetic connection for seamless energy transfer. Scroll down to read more details on the MagSafe prototype and when Apple could unveil the accessory.

Apple prototyped a saturated Starlight-colored MagSafe Charging puck, but seemingly abandoned

According to a rare Apple products collector, Twitter user KosutamiSan states that Apple potentially worked on new color options for the MagSafe charger for iPhone as the company prototyped at least one new color. What this means is that the company potentially had plans to launch additional color options aside from the current Silver option. While the product was seemingly abandoned, the company re-introduce it in the future.

Take note that the company is not new to the approach as it already offers colored MagSafe Charging 2 Charging cables with the new M2 MacBook Air. These colored MagSafe Charging cables are also sold separately in four distinct color options that match their respective MacBook Air color - Gray, Midnight, Silver, and Starlight. However, the color saturation on the MagSafe puck could be different than that of the MagSafe power cables for the MacBook Air. The user shared a reference image of a Starlight color MagSafe charging puck.

Up until now, we have not seen another MagSafe puck with a color other than Silver. The company could be working on additional color options, or it could be that the company ditched the approach and went with the standard Silver option. Henceforth, there is a possibility that the company has abandoned its plans for colored MagSafe charging pucks altogether.

Apple is switching to USB-C with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro launch later this year. While the new standard will open doors for faster wired charging for the iPhone, the company might also incorporate Qi2 standard support. This will allow the iPhone 15 lineup to feature faster wired as well as wireless charging speeds. Eventually, the company could see fit to introduce a portless iPhone, and MagSafe would remain the only option to charge the device. However, these are mere speculations at this stage, as the final word rests with Apple. Share your views with us in the comments.
