The “Made for Google” Certified Accessories Program Has Been Launched – Very Similar To What Apple Already Does
It has been a while that we have been hearing rumors about how Google is coming up with a third party certification program. Over the years, the tech giant hasn’t done much in the hardware department but it hit a gold mine when it came to Chromecast. The company succeeded in selling millions of units and it is natural to expect that the company will do something more in this area. At today’s Pixel event, the company confirmed the rumors by launching a Made for Google certification program for third-party accessories.
Made for Google - The next big thing?
Before we get into details, let me explain what such a certification means for a company like Google. Google is plunging into the hardware space. Now this hardware must have its accessories, as well. The third party certification will allow the company to dive into this market as well without investing excessive capital. A smart move if you ask me.
This news had already been reported earlier in the week. So what does this certification mean for the company? Is it worth something great? Does it have potential? This certification is very similar to how Apple recommends things to its users and fans. This will be an approach that will help you understand what things are good for your phone and what aren’t.
Made for Google certification will include many different accessories. These accessories include phone cases, USB-C earbuds, power adapters etc. Many of these have already been made available in the Google store along with a lot of other new hardware by the tech giant. Just keep it in mind, that the new program is not to be confused with Made by Google. Made by Google is what the company uses to refer to its own vast array of hardware products.
What do you think about this new move by the company? Will it work?
