Apple has released its latest iOS 14.4.1 update to the general public, which fixes ongoing issues that originated after the macOS 14.4 update. The build can be downloaded on your compatible Mac through the System Settings and is live for all users now. As for what is new in the latest build, Apple has shared the changelog, which you can check below for more details.
Apple has released macOS 14.4.1 to the public with a handful of fixes for ongoing issues
macOS 14.4 was a significant update as it brought a handful of new utilities to the table alongside new App Store changes oriented toward developers. However, the update also brought its fair share of issues, including a USB Hub bug that prevented users from using the accessory with their Mac. Some Macs did not recognize the external USB Hub, rendering the accessory unusable, and we have advised users not to update to the latest version until the company releases a fix.
Well, Apple has finally listened and released its latest macOS 14.4.1 update that fixes the ongoing USB Hub bug along with a handful of additional fixes. If you are having issues with your Mac, we advise you to download and install the latest build right now on your compatible machine by simply heading over to the Software Update section in System Settings. Check out the complete changelog below for more details:
This update provides bug fixes for your Mac, including:
- USB hubs connected to external displays may not be recognized
- Copy protected Audio Unit plug-ins designed for professional music apps may not open or pass validation
- Apps that include Java may quit unexpectedly

As you can see in the changelog above, Apple has also fixed the system where apps with Java quit unexpectedly, along with additional bugs. The issue was widespread across developers, as Oracle had also notified users of the prevailing issue. While macOS 14.4.1 fixes a handful of issues, it is still considered a minor update due to the absence of new front-facing changes. However, given Apple just released macOS 14.4 to the public, it is too early to ask for an update with a plethora of additional upgrades.
Apple has not yet released a beta for macOS 14.5 to developers, and we presume that the company will announce new beta builds either today or in the coming weeks. Apple is also expected to host an event to release the new iPad Pro models, which might be the reason why the company is holding off on beta updates. This is because the upcoming build could house references to Apple's forthcoming products. Nonetheless, we will keep you guys updated on the latest, so be sure to stick around for more.
