A Reddit user with the handle ‘Solid-Associate6144’ recently purchased Apple’s M5 MacBook Pro, and his general opinion was that these machines are fragile. We don’t know what gave him this impression, especially considering that MacBooks sport the best build quality of any laptop out there. Fortunately, his opinion took a drastic turn when he accidentally ran over the M5 MacBook Pro with his car, as it was mistakenly placed on the roof of his vehicle. After searching frantically for 30 minutes, he found it and was pleasantly surprised by the minor damage it sustained.
“I always thought that MacBooks were fragile but I couldn’t been more wrong! I got this MBP M5 two weeks ago, and yesterday I forgot it on the roof of my car inside this cheap Tech Protect sleeve. It fell as I was driving, and I found it 30 minutes later. The case had car tire marks on it, indicating that it was probably run over by a car. I was convinced I would find it in a million little pieces, but to my surprise it was intact, working perfectly, with only some minor scratches. That thing might be bulletproof as well.”

The sleeve might have added some protection, but we are confident that the majority of laptops would have been effortlessly crushed, with several of their parts broken, had a similar accident transpired. However, while it is a miracle that Apple’s M5 MacBook Pro came out relatively unscathed, some Redditors believe that physics played a pivotal role in this incident. In short, the mass spread out over a large enough area means there isn’t enough concentrated force to cause significant damage.
Then again, as we’ve mentioned above, had it been any other laptop involved in a similar scenario, 99 percent of the time, it would have been damaged beyond repair. The individuals confidently giving physics lectures wouldn’t have dared to make their laptops sacrificial lambs for the sake of these experiments, so it is obvious that a MacBook’s solid construction makes a world of difference in durability. In case you didn’t know, these machines are also robust enough to block bullets, with one unit saving a man’s life in Fort Lauderdale during an airport shooting.
