Worlds Adrift is somehow being resurrected in Lost Skies, the new open world cooperative PvE game in development at UK developer Bossa Games (previously known as Bossa Studios).

Today, the studio behind I Am Bread and Surgeon Simulator announced Lost Skies as a new game built upon the ideas and gameplay championed in Worlds Adrift. For example, players can grapple, glide, climb, and sail across a large open world made of sky islands.

However, Lost Skies is a bit different as it focuses on survival exploration, unlike the previous project. The game will launch in 2024 for PC (a Steam page is already live), but Bossa is attempting an open development process that starts this year when selected fans will get their hands on the game and help shape specific elements and mechanics.

In a video developer diary, Lead Designer Luke Williams said:

Strange and massive ancient beings have shattered the land, and the last remnants of humanity must band together to survive among the clouds.

You play as one of these last survivors, setting out on a journey across the skies to explore ruins from a lost age. Build and command a skyship either solo or alongside your friends, and ultimately find a way to banish the awesome and terrifying entities that shattered your world.

Where you go and how you get there is entirely up to you. You'll find ancient ruins to explore and islands full of resources to upgrade your ship or your character, although they may be guarded by creatures that need vanquishing or puzzles that need solving.

Explore the Lost Skies far enough and you might uncover a great secret that takes you closer to understanding what happened to your world. As you're sailing through the sky, you might find your way blocked by a treacherous storm wall, and you won't be able to survive until you fortify your ship.

You'll also need to bolster your ship's weapons and defenses to engage in battles against hostile enemies and ultimately confront bigger, more mysterious dangers that lurk in the endless expanse of the sky.

It's you and your crew's flying fortress, your base of operations, and your home.

Lost Skies will be published by Humble Games.
