Loongson Technology Says OEM-Integration Going Well and Will Mass Ship the 3C6000 CPUs Next Year, Confirms in an Investor Relations Update

Chinese manufacturer Loongson has come a long way, and its recently launched 3C6000 series, which aims to offer somewhat competitive performance for the domestic server, is now set to achieve mass production/shipment soon. The company just announced new updates in an investor relations record form, confirming that their system-level cooperation with OEMs is going well.

The company says that they are seeing good adoption of the 3C6000 CPU series by OEMs in their machines, and this is due to the good cost-performance the series offers. The company recently showcased the prowess of the 3C6000 CPU family, which offers competitive performance to Intel's 3rd-gen Xeon and the Xeon Platinum 8380 processors. While the 3C6000 doesn't aim to compete with modern Intel or AMD server CPUs, the cost-effectiveness and its easy availability will ensure OEMs can get their hands on decently powerful CPUs without depending on foreign licenses.

That said, Loongson Technology is aiming to mass ship the 3C6000 CPU series next year, as it continues to progress with the smooth OEM integration, paving the path to shipping huge volumes soon. The 3C6000 family offers three CPU models, offering 16, 32, and 64 cores options to the customers through a chiplet design. Each chiplet consists of 16 cores, and therefore, the 3C6000 with a single chiplet features 16 cores and 32 threads, with options such as 3C6000 D featuring two chiplets and 3C6000 Q boasting quad chiplets for the high-end market.

These chips are some good alternatives for general computing, industrial control, and workstations, and since Loongson uses its own instruction set architecture, it doesn't have to rely on foreign authorization or overseas supply chain. Loongson says that the 3C6000 is comparable to processors from 2023-2024, offering decent mid-range products for its customers, and we have talked about it in detail a few months ago.
