The next-gen Lenovo Legion Go gaming handheld will have a detachable controller, similar to the previous one. This also indicates that there are a couple of iterations Lenovo has prepared to compete with other gaming handhelds.

The details about the upcoming Lenovo Legion Go 2 handheld have just emerged. The latest reports suggest that the handheld is getting an upgrade in both its configuration as well as the display. However, many of the features will be retained from the original console to maintain its unique identity.
The Verge reports it has received images of the upcoming Lenovo Legion handheld, which will boast a larger form factor than the recently rumored Legion Go S and be powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2 chip. Do note that the Ryzen Z2 and Z2 Extreme are both different APUs, with the former being based on the Zen 5 architecture and bringing the latest RDNA 3.5 graphics. The Ryzen Z2 is based on the AMD Zen 3+ and RDNA 2 graphics.
The appearance of the supposed Legion Go 2 is a bit different from the original Legion Go, but the screen size is possibly retained at 8.8-inch along with the 2560 x 1600p resolution. However, the panel is supposedly changing to OLED, which could also be changed with an LCD one, as Lenovo may offer two different variations of Legion Go 2. That said, this will help the company price the LCD version lower but will retain the detachable controllers.
Unlike Legion Go 2, the Legion Go S won't have a detachable controller and will be priced a couple of hundred dollars lower. The Legion Go 2 will run the Windows 11 OS and, as per the images, there isn't any Steam button on the left controller, which was seen on the Lenovo Legion Go S.
Not much has been revealed about the specifications of Legion Go 2 except for the core specs. That said, the Legion Go 2 will be noticeably faster due to faster architecture and Radeon 890M graphics, featuring 16 Compute Units. The original one comes with Ryzen Z1 Extreme based on Zen 4 architecture and RDNA 3 graphics.
We expect the Legion Go 2 will come with a higher battery life than the predecessor (possibly 80Wh) as the Legion Go S already has a bigger battery than the Legion Go, and many handheld manufacturers have started to equip their consoles with 80Wh batteries.
As far as its price and release date are concerned, Legion Go 2 is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2025, but there is no word on pricing yet.
