Google's Pixel 10 smartphone lineup is enjoying unprecedented success in the US, as per the latest report from Counterpoint, which paints a broadly encouraging picture of the American smartphone market, especially when viewed together with the concurrent success of Apple's iPhone 17 lineup.
Counterpoint: "Google’s Pixel sales in the US jumped 28% YoY in September 2025, marking a single-month sales record for the OEM"
According to Counterpoint's North America Handset Channel Share Tracker, Google recorded a year-over-year jump of 28 percent in its Pixel sales during September 2025, constituting "a single-month sales record for the OEM."
The report notes:
- Although the Pixel 9a continues to sell quite well late into its lifecycle, the new Pixel 10 series, especially the Pixel 10 Pro XL, was the main driver for Google’s year-over-year sales growth in September.
- The Pixel 10 sales in the US were bolstered by Google's "multimedia marketing campaigns that focused on the lineup’s deep Gemini integration."
- The Pixel 10 clinched a record month just as Apple launched its new iPhone 17 lineup.
- "Google’s ad campaign directly targeted iOS users with commercials equating iPhones to vanilla ice cream, suggesting that Google’s Pixel smartphones are more flavorsome and innovative."
- Google's bolstered marketing budget is now starting to pay off.
- The Pixel's share of the $600+ smartphone market at T-Mobile grew to 6.5 percent in September 2025 from 0.10 percent in September 2022.
- Similarly, Google's share of the $600+ smartphone market at Verizon grew to 7.0 percent for September 2025 from 0.1 percent in September of 2022.
- Nonetheless, the tech giant is not enjoying the same quantum of success at AT&T, where it's currently holding a 2.3 percent share of the $600+ smartphone market.
Meanwhile, Google is now gearing up for the Pixel 10a launch in early 2026, and as per the latest CAD renders, the tech giant is eschewing flashy design changes and opting for a predictable, if somewhat boring, overall design language.
As we noted in a dedicated post, Google appears to be sticking with a thick-bezeled, plastic-back design for the Pixel 10a. The device's rumored specs include:
- A 6.2-inch display
- Dimensions of 153.9 x 72.9 x 9mm
- A Tensor G4 SoC, which is the same one used in the Pixel 9a, albeit with a higher clock speed
- A battery capacity of 5,100mAh or greater
- MSRP of around $499
