The iPhone 8 and iPhone X are now official. This means that last year's hotness is seeing a reduction in price - the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus are Now Affordable if You're Buying SIM-Free - But Are They Worth it?

After a full year of waiting, loathing, drooling over rumors, the iPhone 8 and iPhone X are finally with us. The iPhone X, obviously, is the higher-end of the two models announced today, featuring a mind-blowing display that stretches to all four corners of the smartphone. It's great in every way, and also costs more, thanks to its premium set of features.

But of course, today's lineup is taking over last year's flagship duo - the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. They're great smartphones even by today's standards, thanks to the technologies packed within them, including a great set of cameras. And if you were holding back from buying one of these smartphones just because of their price, then you'll be pleased to learn that they're seeing a slight drop today, starting at just $549 for the base model iPhone 7 and $669 for the iPhone 7 Plus. These prices are for the 32GB configurations. Add a hundred bucks more on top and you can bump up the storage to 128GB. With that, you also enter the territory of being able to buy a Jet Black variant of the phone, something which is still exclusive to the 128GB model.

Now, the big question on everyone's mind is - is the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus still worth it given that the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are out? Well, to put things into perspective, the iPhone X starts at $999. That's out of many people's league. So, turning towards the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, these smartphones start at a price of $699 and $799, respectively. This means you have to pay a marvelous premium of well over a 100 bucks in order to go a generation ahead if you are considering getting the iPhone 7. So yes, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are still worthy smartphones given the price drop they're seeing, until or unless you are willing to save up a little more and opt for the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus instead. That's what I would recommend at least, given you will further future proof yourself.
