Apple could be eyeing a new design when it officially announces the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max later this year, as a case CAD render leak has revealed that this aesthetics makeover could arrive to the base models too. However, a YouTuber revealed that the company would stick to the same camera layout, with the backside now showing attributes similar to those of Google’s Pixel family.
A new two-tone finish could also be applied to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, with the camera bar sporting the darker color
Multiple sources have informed Jon Prosser, who has returned after a hiatus and updated his viewers through his Front Page Tech channel, that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will receive a design change, at least from the back. Instead of a flat rear side that houses the triple camera cluster along with the LiDAR sensor, Apple is expected to take a different approach, starting with the camera bar.
This shift could mean that Apple will make its future devices appear more in line with the Google Pixel 9 series, though the renders reveal that the camera will be covering a larger surface area. With the rear camera cluster present on the left, the company is said to incorporate an LED flash, rear microphone, and the LiDAR unit vertically on the right-hand side. Later this year, we could also see Apple transition to the two-tone finish, with the iPhone 17 Pro’s and iPhone 17 Pro Max’s camera bar sporting a darker finish than the rest of the chassis.
It is possible that Apple has recognized that customers are growing tired of getting the same design every year, irrespective of the fact that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max featured bigger displays when they were unveiled last year. This lack of positive reception might have been the reason why Apple’s iPhone revenue was slightly less in the company’s Q1 2025 earnings compared to the same period a year ago. It is possible that this change, coupled with bringing Apple Intelligence to other regions, including China, could result in a positive outcome.
Then again, since Jon Prosser has had a mixed track record concerning reliability, we will advise our readers to treat all of this information surrounding the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max with a pinch of salt, and we will be back with more updates from our side.
