Apple is planning a major redesign for the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models in many ways, which could boost the company's sales in regions like China. We have previously reported that the iPhone 17 Pro models could feature a part-aluminum, part-glass design with a camera bar on top, and the design is really shaping up to be a major step up from the current iteration. The latest CAD renders of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 models highlight everything that users should be looking forward to in terms of design.
CAD renders of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, and iPhone 17 Pro show intricate design details, corroborating prior reports
The CAD renders of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro were shared by Sonny Dickson on X, stating, "Everyone seems to be sharing the same iPhone 17 CAD, so I thought I'd share the ones I've seen." The CAD renders also show the highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to feature an ultra-thin design and a single lens camera at the back packed inside a camera bar that takes the entire top portion of the device. The single-lens camera will be a 48MP sensor similar to the iPhone 16. However, the device will not be able to record spatial videos as it requires at least a dual-lens camera.
The standard iPhone 17 model will feature a design that we are already familiar with, with a vertical dual camera setup capable of shooting spatial videos. The CAD renders of the iPhone 17 show a similar design to that of the current version, potentially allowing some users who do not want a more pronounced look of the iPhone 17 Pro models.
The iPhone 17 Pro models may undergo a significant redesign, with a part-glass, part-aluminum design, and the biggest camera bar compared to the rest of the models. The devices are reported to move away from the conventional square camera bump design and have a unique camera bar that spans the width of the device. The camera bar will house the triple-lens camera array coupled with a LiDAR scanner, an LED Flash, and a microphone.
It remains to be seen if the company is going for a redesign due to new practical applications or if it is purely dedicated to looks. Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, and the iPhone 17 Pro models later this year, possibly in September, which is its typical release timeframe. We will hear more details on the features coming with the latest models as we move closer to the launch, so be sure to stick around.
