The iPhone 17 lineup is shaping up to be a promising device as far as the hardware side is concerned. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air will be the highlights of the lineup this year, with some rumors claiming that the 'Pro Max' variant of the series will be called the 'Ultra' model. It is now being reported that all iPhone 17 models will be equipped with an upgraded 24MP front camera and much more.
Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 models to be equipped with a 24MP front camera with significantly improved image quality
According to the latest information obtained from GF Securities' Jeff Pu, the entire iPhone 17 lineup will house an upgraded front-facing 24MP camera, including the standard variant, the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max (via MacRumors). Currently, all four iPhone 16 models are equipped with a 12MP camera on the front, and this will be a major upgrade - a move that will inspire the smartphone industry.
This is not the first time we have reported details on the front-facing camera of the iPhone 17 lineup. Prominent analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously claimed that the entire lineup would house upgraded 24MP front cameras. Furthermore, Kuo claimed that the 24MP front camera would "significantly improve image quality."
With a 24MP camera, users will have a greater advantage when cropping photos later on, as it will allow them to retain more quality than the current iteration. Apart from the front camera, Pu also reiterated his previous claims that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max would come with a 48MP Telephoto camera - a major step up from the current models and a compelling reason for users to upgrade.
Beyond the camera, the iPhone 17 lineup is also slated to be equipped with 12GB of RAM, which indicates that the company is gearing up for major Apple Intelligence upgrades with either iOS 19 or iOS 20. It remains to be seen if the higher RAM capacity will be available on all four models of the iPhone 17 or if it will be an exclusive addition to the 'Pro' models.
Pu also claims that the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will feature Apple's A19 chip, while the A19 Pro chip will be reserved for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The A19 series of chips will utilize TSMC's newer third-gen manufacturing process called N3P, which will make the chip more power-efficient and boost computational and graphical performance. We will share more details on the devices as soon as further information becomes available, so stay tuned.
