Apple is reportedly increasing the display size of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, with a previous size comparison to the iPhone 15 Pro Max showing that its successor in dummy form is quite a bit larger. This footprint increase should allow the company to use bigger batteries in both upcoming ‘Pro’ models, and one alleged video not only shows the shape of these cells, but also the capacity, which we will discuss here.
Sketchy information states that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature a 4,747mAh battery, the biggest ever in an iPhone
Like the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, X user @lipilipsi has shown that the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will sport an L-shaped battery. According to a previous report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s top-end offering for this year is said to feature a battery with increased energy density, allowing for increased runtimes with the same capacity. Fortunately, customers who upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro Max will likely experience a higher endurance, as the leak reveals that the battery capacity is a 4,747mAh unit.
If we compare it to the iPhone 15 Pro Max battery, that is a 7 percent bump in overall capacity. As for the iPhone 16 Pro, its cell is said to feature a 3,577mAh capacity, making it slightly higher than the 3,274mAh battery belonging to the iPhone 15 Pro, resulting in a 9 percent difference. Given that Apple will increase the display size of the iPhone 16 Pro to 6.3 inches instead of retaining it at 6.1 inches, we were expecting a bigger battery gap between the two generations.

Then again, AppleInsider reports that @lipilipsi has attempted to fool his audience previously by uploading iPhone cases with the Action button cutout. However, we have reported in the past that various iPhone 16 models, minus the iPhone 16 Plus, will receive a battery upgrade, so it is possible that this leak turns out to be legit. In any case, we will continue updating our readers on the latest, so stay tuned for more updates.
