While you should take the news with a grain of salt, the information matches the details shared by Majin Bu recently. Bu claims that all iPhone 16 models will house upgraded battery capacities apart from the iPhone 16 Plus, and the latest leak suggests the same. While the iPhone 15 Plus boasts the best battery life of any iPhone, it appears that the company is planning to bestow the title on its upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max this year.
According to the latest leak, the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max will house bigger battery cells compared to the iPhone 15 lineup. However, the iPhone 16 Plus is now expected to feature roughly 10 percent smaller battery capacity, which could be evident in the overall battery life.

It is unclear at this stage why Apple is opting to reduce the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Plus, as the device features a bigger chassis and an overall bigger footprint. This means that the device has ample space on the inside to keep the battery size the same, if not equal to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. We have previously covered that the iPhone 15 Plus features the top-of-the-line battery life on any iPhone as the device is equipped with a power-efficient processor and an LCD display with a 60Hz refresh rate.
One possibility is that the company is aiming to market the iPhone 16 Pro Max as the most premium smartphone it has to offer, and it wants the device to feature the best battery life as well. Apple's iPhone 16 Pro Max is also rumored to feature a battery life that will cross the 30-hour mark, and in comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro Max features a 29-hour battery life. While Apple's reasoning for a smaller battery cell on the iPhone 16 Plus is unknown at this stage, we are glad the company is pushing the numbers with the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro.
