We have previously covered that the iPhone 16 Pro models will come with an improved set of cameras. Now, we have more details coming only a few days before the launch. iPhone 16 Pro to feature an enhanced set of cameras with 4K video at 120fps and a "Camera Button" that works with third-party apps

Sources familiar with the matter have told 9to5mac that there are a handful of camera upgrades coming with the release of the iPhone 16 Pro models, such as a 48MP ultra-wide lens for better macro photography and much more. The sources also told the publication that the camera system on the iPhone 16 Pro will be just as capable as the iPhone 16 Pro, and we have already covered this aspect of the lineup, as the company aims to minimize the gap between the duo.

Both iPhone 16 Pro models will house a 5x tetraprism lens, but it remains unclear if the 'Pro Max' will feature an upgraded optical zoom. However, what piqued our interest is the iPhone 16 Pro's ability to shoot 4K video at 120 fps compared to 60 fps on the iPhone 15 Pro models. Additionally, the company is planning to upgrade Quick Take from 1080p to 4K, which is a long overdue upgrade.

The sources also showed evidence that Apple has tested 8K video support for the iPhone 16 Pro models as it has the camera set available for the job, and the A18 Pro chip will be able to handle the processing needs as well. However, it remains to be seen if the company will enable the feature on the production models. There is a possibility that the company will reserve 8K video recording for next year's iPhone 17 lineup, which is reported to house a better set of cameras, including a hi-res zoom sensor.

The source also told 9to5mac that the iPhone 16 Pro will bring a new JPEG-XL format for capturing lossless photos and the ability to pause and record videos in the camera app. Additionally, the company will offer new photographic styles, remove wind noise in videos, and launch a new spatial photo mode designed for Vision Pro.

We have already covered various aspects of the Capture Button, and the sources suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro's Capture Button will work with the company's stock Camera app as well as third-party apps. The Capture Button is internally called the "Camera Button" but we are not sure if it will be called the same on the final product. Users will have the option to use it as a shortcut button for the stock or third-party camera apps. We will share additional details as soon as further information is available.
