How to Turn Off iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro

Apple has finally gone ahead and admitted that iPhone 15 models are running into issues with the wireless charging plates found inside some BMW vehicles and has promised that the fix will be coming later this year.

The fix for your iPhone 15's wireless charging issue is coming soon

The confirmation came out from an internal memo that Apple Authorized Service Providers shared. The company has talked about how charging new iPhone 15 devices with a "small number" of wireless phone chargers that are found in recent BMW and Toyota Supra models could temporarily disable the NFC feature on the new iPhones. Sadly, the memo does not get into the details as to what is causing the issue.

An NFC chip is an integral part of an iPhone as it helps with Apple Pay as well as letting you use your phone as a digital car key. All the iPhone 15 users affected by this issue are seeing a "Could Not Set Up Apple Pay" error message in the Wallet app, and it does not matter whether or not the wallet has been set up before.

Apple has acknowledged that the iPhone 15 series will be getting the update later this year. Apple released iOS 17.1 last night, and the fix was not found in that update, which means that we will have to wait for a subsequent release before the changes start rolling out. However, it is important to understand that if you are still using the new iPhone and you do wireless charge using the vehicles that are causing the issue, we would highly suggest that you avoid doing so until Apple rolls out the fix because at the time of writing, a hardware fix is the only possible solution, and that could be more time-consuming.

The issue might seem like a hassle for a lot of iPhone 15 users, but we have to understand that in the tech world, these issues come and go all the time. Thankfully, Apple has acknowledged that the problem does exist, and if the company claims that there is a software fix coming later this year, all you have to do is wait and avoid charging your phone via a wireless charger in a BMW. Rest assured, you should not have any issues with other wireless chargers available in the market.
