Apple to announce iPad mini 7 next week, here's what to expect from the device in terms of design and features

Apple's "It's Glowtime" event will be held on September 9, and the company has a plethora of upgrades in store for users, which includes the new iPhone 16 lineup, Apple Watch X, the new iPad mini 7, and much more. While we have a pretty good idea related to the iPhone and the wearable, news related to the iPad mini 7 is scarce. If you are anxiously waiting for one of the most popular iPad models, we have compiled a list of all the rumors and reports so you have a better idea of what is coming next week.

Here's what to expect from Apple's big iPad mini 7 refresh next week

Apple plans to refresh the iPad mini 7 with a handful of changes on the inside, which means that the external design will be more or less similar to the current version. However, the mini lineup is due for an update as the current model had its sweet run but now it is showing signs of age. Check out all the changes coming with the iPad mini 7 release next week.

Design And Display

The design and display of the iPad mini 7 are reported to be the same as the current models, which is not a bad thing, given how the tablet just received its major redesign. The display will be 8.3 inches in size with minimal bezels on the sides, similar to the iPad Pro and Air models. It will house Touch ID in the Power Button and the front camera in landscape position if the device is part of Apple's recent trends.

Apple could make some changes to the display to fix the jelly-scrolling issue on the iPad mini 7, which was a point of controversy with the current version. While it is not a fault of the hardware, it did trigger some users who noticed one side of the display refreshing faster than the other.

Processor Powering The Device

Apple Intelligence was one of the key announcements at WWDC, and the company would want to make the iPad mini 7 future-proof. This means that the company will upgrade the forthcoming model with at least an A17 Pro chip that can handle the AI features on-device. However, there were also reports of an A18 Pro chip coming to the iPad mini lineup, which would be an even better option as it is the same chip that will power the iPhone 16 Pro models. The new processor will be coupled with at least 8GB of RAM, which is a requirement for Apple Intelligence.

Connectivity And Accessories

The iPad mini 7 will come with support for Wi-Fi 6E, which is the latest standard for faster and more reliable internet connection. It will allow the iPad to connect to 6GHz band, but you have to note that you would require a dedicated router to make use of the hardware. Other than this , Bluetooth 5.3 will also make its way to the iPad mini 7 for faster communication between devices.

In terms of accessories, we are expecting the device to boast support for Apple Pencil Pro. This is because the current version already supports Apple Pencil 2 and the upgraded support could open door for a wide range of audience.

Colors And Release

The iPad mini 7 will not be a good refresh unless Apple announces the device with more color options. We expect the company to bring new vibrant color options, which would stand out from the rest of the models. As for the release, it is possible that the company will announce the device at its September 9 event, and if it does not, we could see the refresh happening by the end of the year, possibly alongside the M4 MacBook Pro refresh. However, it is highly likely that the new iPad mini 7 will launch alongside the new iPhone 16 lineup next week.
