Apple's upcoming generative AI technology will redefine how we use Apple products, and the company appears to be taking it to the next level by hiring experts from Google. It was recently uncovered that the technology giant is planning to integrate AI in a slew of apps across iOS 18. We have heard that Notes, Photos, Mail, and other apps will receive the AI treatment from Apple, possibly utilizing the tools the company has been working on for months. Now, sources tout that Safari will get its fair share of AI treatment as well with the new 'Web Erase' feature and more.

Safari to see a boost with new AI tools and features for a seamless user experience in iOS 18

According to AppleInsider, Apple will revamp Safari with a bunch of new AI utilities and visual variations for an enhanced browsing experience. While the changes are slated to be part of Safari for iOS, the iPadOS and macOS counterparts will also be updated for smooth continuity features. Some of the new tools include Intelligent Search, Web Eraser, and a new quick-access menu.

The Intelligent Search will be a browser assistant tool using the company's on-device AI technology to search for vital and relevant topics on web pages. The changes will allow Safari on iOS 18 to provide a summary of web pages for easier understanding. Note that similar features are already available on Android, but it would be a neat addition to Apple's ecosystem.

Other than this, Apple will also bring the new 'Web Eraser' tool to the mix that will allow users to edit and remove certain portions of the web pages, which will stick even after revisiting. Lastly, the new quick-access menu will be part of the address bar and designed to bring various tools that currently rest in the Share Sheet. The menu is potentially designed for easier access and better organization of features.

The source mentions that the features are part of Apple's internal testing. This means that the aforementioned utilities are currently under evaluation, and Apple could see fit to keep them for a letter date and not announce them at the WWDC 2024 event. However, it was previously reported that the company is working on a Safari assistant, which confirms the arrival of the above-mentioned features.

Apple is also working on a wide range of additional changes for iOS 18, including visual tweaks. It was previously rumored that the platform could take inspiration from visionOS and introduce circular app icons. However, it is very unlikely that the company will go this far at this stage. We will update you with more details on iOS 18 as soon as new information is discovered.
