The shipment manifest reveals that Samsung is readying laptops based on Intel's Panther Lake chips. Samsung, however, hasn't yet confirmed or showcased such laptops, while companies like Acer have already showcased Panther Lake laptops at the IFA 2025.
NBD Shipment Logs Show Intel Has Already Shipped Panther Lake Chips to Samsung for its Next-Gen Laptops a Few Months Ago
We are close to Intel's Panther Lake launch, and laptop makers have already started showcasing Panther Lake-based offerings, such as Acer, which recently showcased its Swift 16 AI. It's now revealed from a NBD shipment manifest that Samsung is reportedly preparing its next-gen laptops with the upcoming Intel chips, too. As spotted by @x86deadandback, the NBD shipment manifest shows that Intel started shipping the Panther Lake chips to Samsung in May.
The logs show BGA2540, which is going to be the socket for Panther Lake chips, and "64-bit MPU (for R&D purpose)" confirms that these chips are engineering samples sent for testing. We don't know the current progress, but it appears that Samsung is likely ready to deploy the CPUs in its upcoming generation of laptops, and we may see Panther Lake-based Samsung Galaxy notebooks before the end of this year or at least in the beginning of 2026.
Additional details on the mentioned Panther Lake, such as the variant shipped, are missing, and it could be either Panther Lake-H or Panther Lake-U, depending on what Samsung prefers for its first batch of laptops. Samsung's current Galaxy notebooks utilize Arrow Lake-U chips, and Samsung will likely transition to PTL-U on the upcoming Galaxy notebooks for a lightweight and power-efficient experience.
While PTL-H will be rated at 25W, the PTL-U will stick to 15W of TDP rating, offering up to 8 cores with a 4x P-Core + 4x LP-E Core configuration. The PTL-U will skip the Efficient cores and is expected to offer 6-8 core configurations. The integrated graphics will be based on Xe3 architecture and will feature four GPU cores. The PTL-H, on the other hand, will be aimed at both the premium and mainstream segments, offering as many as 16 CPU cores and 12 GPU cores.
Intel Panther Lake CPU Configurations
| Die SKU | P-Cores (Cougar Cove) | E-Cores (Darkmont) | LP-E Cores (Skymont?) | Xe3 GPU Cores (Celestial) | PL1 TDP | PL2 TDP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Panther Lake-H | 4 | 8 | 4 | 12 | 25W | 45W |
| Panther Lake-H | 4 | 8 | 4 | 4 | 25W | 45W |
| Panther Lake-H | 4 | 8 | 0 | 4 | 25W | 45W |
| Panther Lake-U | 4 | 0 | 4 | 4 | 15W | 45W |
