Windows 12 rumors have started to gain traction in the industry, and now the fire is fueled after the statement of Intel's executive, claiming that the launch may occur in 2024.

Intel Might Have Insight On The Next Windows OS Release, Hints At 2024 For Windows 12

Intel's Chief Financial Officer, David Zinser, gave an extensive interview (via SeekingAlpha) at the Citi 2023 Global Technology Conference, where the executive claimed that the upcoming year will be exciting, especially for Windows. Here is what he said:

We actually think '24 is going to be a pretty good year for client, in particular, because of the Windows refresh. And we still think that the installed base is pretty old and does require a refresh and we think next year may be the start of that, given the Windows catalyst. So we're optimistic about how things will play out beginning in '24.

Now, the mention of Windows 12 hasn't been specific here, and the "refresh" statement could point to a potential update to the existing Windows 11, but as highlighted by Windows Central, similar statements were also made back in 2021, where a new version of Windows was said as a "refresh." This implies that Windows 12 is indeed scheduled for launch, although we aren't sure of a release date yet.

As far as details regarding Windows 12 are concerned, they are slim. However, based on Microsoft's recent approach with their applications, it looks like the next Windows version will also get the "AI treatment," integrating generative AI to make the consumer experience much more enhanced. The OS could leverage the latest AI hardware featured on Intel and AMD CPUs.

There were reports in the industry about Windows 12 being a "subscription-based" OS, but they have been debunked for now, although you never you, we might see some "additional" features coming at a price.

With that said, the launch of Windows 12 and the information surrounding it is currently in its early stages; hence, we can't put out a conclusive talk here. It will be interesting to see how details surrounding the new OS unfold since it will definitely disclose Microsoft's future trajectory with its resources.
