Intel debuts unlocked Core i5 and Core i7 CPU’s

Rizwan Anwer

Before this there was only one processor available with an unlocked multiplier, that was the Pentium E6500K which had a multiplier that could go all the way to 16x and now Intel has added more CPU's to the unlocked multiplier family, the Core i5 655K ($216) and Core i7 875K ($342).

The unlocked multipliers can help reach better overclocks over a lesser FSB (Front Side Bus speed) Tom's Hardware has already reviewed the CPU's right Here

Let's hope these unlocked Multiplier CPU's become available outside of Taiwan. (The E6500K is only available in Taiwan even today).
