Instagram Stories Adds GIF Stickers For Photos And Videos

Instagram is gradually becoming an important part of everyone's lives. Individually, you share photos, videos, and stories of your day with different kinds of filters and stickers. On a more wider scale, Instagram is crucial for selling products for businesses. However, the company is moving ahead and effectively competing against the likes of Snapchat. Today, Instagram launched GIF stickers which can be used on photos and videos in the Stories section. So let's dive in to see some more details on the new addition.

Instagram Is Rolling Out GIF Stickers For All, Photo/Video Sizing Feature To Arrive In Coming Weeks

Apart from the addition of GIF stickers, the company has also announced that it will soon introduce the functionality required to post content with different aspect ratios. This is something which has been missing from the platform to date and would prove to be a neat addition. The update of GIF stickers in Stories was shard in a blog post.

The new GIF stickers are taken from the GIPHY source and as we have mentioned earlier, can be used on photos and videos with the platform's stories. Here's how the company describes the addition of the new feature:

When you tap to add a sticker to a photo or video in stories, you’ll now see a new GIF option. Tap it to open a library full of hundreds of thousands of moving stickers powered by GIPHY. You can browse what’s currently trending on GIPHY or search their extensive collection to find a sticker for just about anything. From bouncing letters and twirling hearts to dancing cats and pizza in space, these animated stickers help you make any photo or video funny, interesting or creative.

Furthermore, the blog post also mentions that the photo-sharing platform will soon add support for different aspect ratios, adding photos and videos "of any size to your story". This refers to the aspect ratio of the content being shared and not the size of the file.

“In the coming weeks, we’re also rolling out the ability to upload photos and videos of any size to your story — so you never have to lose part of a photo or cut a friend out of a group video. When you upload a photo or video, pinch to share it in its original dimensions, whether it’s square, portrait or landscape. Any extra room will be filled with a custom color gradient that matches what you’ve shared.”

GIF stickers is live for all users, however, the uploading of content with different aspect ratio should roll out in the "coming weeks". There will be more to the story, so be sure to stay tuned in for more.

As for now, share your views on the new GIF stickers in the comments.
