Injustice 2

It's been some time since we heard of Injustice 2, the new entry in the series developed by NetherRealm Studios currently in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and many were wondering when we would start hearing more about it. A final release date had yet to be confirmed as well, but Ed Boon finally confirmed a few hours ago when players will be able to take part in the next big battle between DC Comics heroes and villains.

According to an image shared on Twitter by Ed Boon himself, Injustice 2 will release on May 16th on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. With a confirmed release date, we should expect to learn more about the game very, very soon.

Injustice 2 will come with plenty of new features not found in the previous entry of the franchise, as well as brand new characters, reworked returning characters and more. One of the biggest additions to the formula will be a loot system, which promises to add quite a bit of depth to it, as described by Dave in his preview.

This is possibly the biggest change of this sequel. NetherRealm decided to introduce a loot system which provides players with both cosmetic and functional equipment rewards after their matches, the idea being that each player will then be able to customize a character like Batman or Superman to make it truly unique in both aesthetics and skill set. According to NetherRealm there should be over a thousand options for each character in each category like chest, legs, arms and cape; of course, there will be a matchmaking filter for those who are only interested in playing with the non-geared version of characters.

Injustice 2 launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16th. We will keep you updated on the NetherRealm Studios developed game as soon as more comes in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
