19 Images & A Video Show Huawei’s P20 Lite In Complete Detail; World’s Second 3D Facial Recognition Lacks Basic Aesthetic Sense (Apparently)
Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are not the only smartphones which will launch in 2018’s first half. After Face ID and edge to edge displays, several manufacturer will turn up the heat. One of these is Huawei, which saw its market share increase recently. In addition, the company’s P20 lineup also features regularly on the rumor mill. Today, we’ve got a lot more details for the Huawei P20 Lite. Take a look below for more.
360 Degree Renders And First Live Images For The Huawei P20 Lite Provide Strong Evidence For A Unique Design And New Features On The Smartphone
A recent leak for the Huawei P20 Lite took place courtesy of the FCC. Detailed specifications, including a taller 19:9 display surfaced for the smartphone. However, today we’ve got different information. Renders and live images for the Huawei P20 Lite show a 5.9 inch display, an 18:9 aspect ratio and a different screen resolution, which is evident. Further complicating things, the renders come courtesy of a highly reliable source, with a good track record regarding leaks.
Amidst recent reports that the US will include Huawei on its Kaspersky list, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer looks to have a rather good device under the works. Current leaks and rumors for Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ do not contain any mention of 3D facial recognition; despite the fact that Seoul’s Exynos 9810 can support the feature. Huawei, in the meantime, is eager to take the lead.
As you can see, no detail related to the P20 Lite’s form is spared. These images, especially the live ones, offer a first good look at the smartphone’s alleged notch. And, if you ask us, Huawei needs to improve things here. Apple made sure that the iPhone 10’s notch is balanced, but Huawei has made it too small. The aforementioned FCC posting set width for this notch at 4mm. However, as other details in that report are contradicted, we’re not sure of what to make of it.
Nevertheless, these images show that Huawei needs a lot to learn in smartphone design. There’s no flow, no balance to the P20 Lite’s overall form. Facial recognition or not, in aesthetic terms, the Mix 2 is a better smartphone. And, Xiaomi’s got a rather fantastic successor coming up, pretty soon according to rumors. Thoughts?
