The Expanse: A Telltale Series is a new episodic adventure series from a reformed version of Telltale Games and Deck Nine (the team behind Life is Strange: Before the Storm and True Colors). Like the Telltale series of old this one largely focuses on story and player choice, which also means consequences, including characters dying. That said, with the right choices, you can largely avoid bad results for your team.

While Telltale games are all about charting your own course through the story, there is a “best” ending to The Expanse. The difference between the series’ endings largely comes down to who survives and who doesn’t – in the “best” ending all the good guys make it through, whereas in the worst ending, only you and Virgil make it out. So, here’s how to sail into the sunset with the most surviving crew members…
- Step 1 – Just don’t execute Cox in Episode 1 when given the option to.
- Step 2 – Butter up Rayen by saving his leg and doing other “nice” things for him in Episodes 1 and 2 and then convince him to save Maya from his brother in Episode 3. Here’s our full guide on saving Maya.
- Step 3 – Choose not to kill Rayen in Episode 5.
- Step 4 – Find the Laser Crystal needed for Khan’s prosthetic surgery in Episode 1 (here’s our guide to that). Find the cigar in Episode 1 and give it to Khan in Episode 2 (here’s our guide to that). Calm down the panicking Virgil and lead Khan through the fight with the pirates in order to save her life. And there you have it! Follow the instructions and guides listed above, and you should be able to save everybody. Note – even though he’s part of your crew initially, there’s no saving Arlen, as he’s an irredeemable jerk who has to die.
