The opening of Saros pits you against the Consort, a formidable tutorial boss designed to teach you the high stakes of combat. While most players will fall to this boss, it is possible to defeat it and receive some rewards for your efforts.

However, the fight is really difficult because you lack the advanced abilities such as Parry, Power Weapons, and Second Chance (free revive) unlocked later in the game. You are limited entirely to a Handcannon, and your own personal skills action game skills.

Should You Try to Beat The Consort?

If you manage to defeat the Consort, you are rewarded with a cache of Lucenite and 1 Halcyon to jumpstart your suit upgrades. While the rewards aren't rare, they do provide a helpful head start. Beating the Consort is more about the achievement, as it is one of the most challenging bosses in the game due to your limited starting kit.

The Consort Boss Strategy

Defense First

To survive with your limited health, you must play conservatively. Defense is your absolute priority, as you cannot afford to take too many hits.

When to Attack

Your offensive windows of opportunity are narrow in the fight against the Consort. Fire at the boss only when there are no lasers on screen, as their absence makes handling every other threat more manageable as you deal damage to the enemy.

By staying patient and prioritizing your shield for blue projectiles and your dodge for red ones, you can overcome the odds and walk into the main game with extra resources in your pocket.
