Microsoft Edge is the newer version of Internet Explorer. It is more secure and faster than its predecessor. However, sometimes some sites may not open properly with Edge, so you can change its compatibility and open the link. This tutorial will address this and show you how to use Internet Explorer mode in Edge on Windows 11.

Use Internet Explorer Mode in Edge

Edge is more secure than Explorer, so only activate the explorer mode when you have to access older websites. Disable this mode as soon as you are done. Follow the steps below to enable this compatibility mode:

Step-1: Open Microsoft Edge.

Step-2: Click on the three horizontal dots at the top right corner of the browser window.

Step-3: Select Settings.

Step-4: On the left side of the screen, you will see the settings sidebar. Locate the Default browser and select the option.

Step-5: Select Allow from the drop-down menu next to Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode.

Step-6: Select Restart.

Step-7: After the browser opens again, type the site you wish to visit.

Step-8: Right-click the tab and select Reload tab in Internet Explorer mode.

Step-9: You will see another window. Select Done.

You should disable this mode after you are done. Follow Steps 1 – 6. In step-5, select Default instead of Allow.
