Hell is Us has a few key components. Exploration, combat, and puzzle solving. For the last of those pillars, solving the puzzles or 'Mysteries' as they're called in the game, can include a multi-step process that has you go from one area to another and back again, or they can be solved by looking around the corner.
The Hermit Mystery in Acasa Marshes falls into the former of those two camps, though overall, isn't too difficult to solve.
This guide will show you how to solve The Hermit Mystery.
How to Solve The Hermit Mystery in Hell is Us - Guide
Start the Quest (Mystery)
First, you'll want to find The Hermit, otherwise named Frygen Bronus, in the Acasa Marshes area, at the North Eastern corner of the Marshes. He's standing on the porch of his hut, where he's looking out with his camera.
He'll tell you he needs a Zoom Lens to get better photos, and to his left (your right) you'll be able to see a small board filled only with three photos of the Hollow creatures that have appeared in Acasa Marshes.
Find the Zoom Lens
You won't be able to find the Zoom Lens in the Acasa Marshes. In fact, you won't find it until significantly later in the game, when you reach Talju. You'll find it in the window of the Photo Shop, which is on fire, and directly south of the school, when standing in front of the school's main entrance.
Return to Acasa Marshes and give Bronus the lens. He'll thank you and tell you to come back later to see more photos on his wall.
There is a save point right next to his hut, but quitting the game to the main menu and loading back in won't pass in-game time. You'll have to walk back to your APC, travel somewhere else, and return to Acasa Marshes for time to pass and for Bronus to take more photos.
The Picture is the Solution
When Bronus has taken more photos, you'll see one particular photo in the center of the board that's more important than the rest, because it's the solution to a puzzle that's placed a few steps directly south of Bronus' hut.
Below a face carved into the side of a stone wall, four pillars stand at four corners with a circle between them. The middle photo Bronus takes shows you which way to turn each of the pillars, so the shapes in the photo are facing towards the center.
For the two pillars closer to the rock wall, turn the left pillar until the symbol with two lines going in opposite directions parallel to each other faces the center. Turn the pillar on the right closer to the rock wall to the symbol that looks like a bear claw.
For the other two pillars, turn the one on the right to the symbol that looks like a circle with a gap in it, and the one on the left to the bow and arrow.
You'll hear the ground shake, and a chest will appear in the center of the circle, granting you a Tuning Stone, the Feed on Fear - Enhanced Glyph, the Perfect Guard - Enhanced Glyph, and the Aarlon's Last Stand Relic.
