The Canadian Game Awards are back for its sixth year with the 2026 CGA's, celebrating games made in Canada and by Canadians. This year, it's very much a Quebec-led affair, as all of the games up for Game of the Year (save for one) are based in the French Canadian province, and those titles are also the ones with the most nominations across all categories, with Assassin's Creed Shadows, Hell is Us, and South of Midnight leading the charge.

Assassin's Creed Shadows leads the pack with a total of nine nominations across all categories, with South of Midnight in a close second place with eight nominations (nine if you also count Compulsion Games getting a nomination for Studio of the Year) and Hell is Us in third with six (seven if you count Rogue Factor's nomination for Studio of the Year).

All three titles are also nominated for Game of the Year, though one of this year's GOTY noms is also an unfortunately tragic story, because Wanderstop, the game from indie developer Ivy Road received its nomination just days after Ivy Road announced it would be shutting down.

The nominees and winners are selected by a jury of Canadian video game industry professionals and media members, of which, and this is our disclaimer, Wccftech is part of, as I have been included on the jury this year, though we have had no other role with the production of the show. The awards will take place on May 21, 2026, at 5pm PT / 8pm ET at the John W.H. Bassett Theatre at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, alongside the XP Game Summit Conference.
