How to Start Your Windows 11 PC in Safe Mode

Rebooting into safe mode allows your system to disable drivers and features temporarily. This makes the system more stable. This mode will allow you to determine any system-critical issues that are affecting the PC. In this tutorial, I will show you how to boot into safe mode on Windows 11 systems.

I will show you two ways that you can use to boot into Safe Mode. Both the methods are straightforward, and you can use either of the two whenever the need arises.

Method-1: Settings App

Step-1: Click on the Windows icon on the taskbar. Select Settings cog. (You can use shortcut keys Win + I to open the app as well)

Step-2: Ensure you are in the System Settings from the left pane. Scroll down in the right pane and select Recovery.

Step-3: Select Restart now.

Step-4: Reconfirm your option and select Restart now.

Step-5: Select Troubleshoot.

Step-6: Click on Advanced Options.

Step-7: Select Startup Settings.

Step-8: Click on the Restart button at the bottom of the screen.

Step-9: In the BitLocker screen, press Enter to continue.

Step-10: Enter your BitLocker recovery key. If you don’t know your recovery key, use your Microsoft account to find it. After you enter the key, press Enter.

Step-11: You will get numbered options on your screen. Options 4 – 6 are applicable for Safe Mode activation. Use the number keys on your keyboard to make the appropriate selection.

Method 2: Safe Mode on Windows 11 at System Boot

    1.  Turn on your PC.
    2.  The press Power button on your laptop/PC. Do this twice.
    3.  The blue screen Choose an option screen will appear. Now follow Steps 5-11 as given in Method-1.
