Taming a cat in Crimson Desert can feel like a chore, requiring you to pet and feed it over multiple in-game days.
However, there is a very handy shortcut that lets you bypass this long process by using a Golden Carp. Using this shortcut is the fastest way to tame any cat in the game and have them accompany in your adventure to loot items dropped by enemies which you can sell for silver.

Find the Golden Carp
The Golden Carp is a Legendary Fish that serves as the ultimate cat taming item. You can get one at any time after starting the game, and you don't even need to know how to fish.
- The Golden Carp can be fished from the lake located near Snowgrass Heartright, below the "P" in Pailune on the map.
The "Jump-In" Catch Trick (No Rod Required)
While you can use a fishing rod, there is a much faster way to harvest fish in Crimson Desert that many overlook.
- Walk along the lake’s shores where you have clear visibility of the water. The Golden Carp is massive and much bigger than any other fish, so it's impossible not to notice it.
- Once you spot one, simply jump into the water near the fish.
- While swimming next to it, hold Square (PS5) or X (Xbox) to catch it.
NOTE: This "Jump-In" method works for catching every fish in the game, saving you significant time with a fishing minigame that can get a little time consuming.
Instant 100 Trust With Any Cat
Once the Golden Carp is in your inventory, you can tame any cat in the game. Pororin Village is the ideal location for taming because it is full of cats roaming around.
- Approach the cat you want and press Square/X to pick it up.
- Carry the cat to a relatively clear, quiet area. This prevents the cat from running away or having a nearby cat steal the Golden Carp.
- Put the cat down and open your inventory. Highlight the Golden Carp and press Square/X to drop it in front of the cat.
- As soon as the cat finishes the Golden Carp, its Trust will hit 100 points. You can now turn the cat into your pet
What If The Cat Won't Eat?
There is a known issue where cats may ignore food left on the ground and run away. If the cat you want as a pet is doing so, you have to:
- Pick and pet the cat again after you have dropped the food. This interaction usually makes the cat eat the food you have dropped without running away.
