The Crimson Nightmare is a side boss in Crimson Desert located in the center of Fort Perwin to the west of Hernand. While the battle itself is a test of attrition, as the boss's weak point is only exposed for a few seconds at every opportunity, what makes the battle more challenging is the Crimson Fog, a red mist that constantly drains your HP.

How to Protect Against the Crimson Fog
There are two ways to neutralize the Crimson Fog. One relies on a specific piece of headgear, while the other is a skill
Method 1: The Scarlet Blade Gas Mask
The most reliable way to neutralize the Crimson Fog is to equip the Scarlet Blade Gas Mask.
- The Scarlet Blade Gas Mask is a random drop from the Bleed Bandits occupying Fort Perwin.
- The drop rate is relatively low, but since the fort is packed with enemies, you are likely to find one before reaching the boss.
- Once equipped, you are 100% immune to the health drain, which will make the fight much easier.
NOTE: Other headgear such as the Crude Devil Mask also grant immunity to the red fog.
Method 2: The Focused Repulsion Trick
If luck isn't on your side, you can use the Focused Repulsion skill to clear the Crimson Fog
- Improve Focus to Level 2 to unlock Focused Repulsion.
- To use the skill, while in Focus mode (R3+L3), you can trigger a blast of air by pressing R1 or L3+R3 after being hit.
- This creates a shockwave that instantly clears the Crimson Fog in a small radius around Kliff. While less permanent than the mask, it's still a reliable way to clear the fog.
Crimson Nightmare Combat Tips
In case you are still having trouble against the Crimson Nightmare, here are some tips to further help you.
- Do not engage the boss until you have dealt with every Bleed Bandit in the combat arena. If you die and retry the fight the bandits will respawn, so taking them out first is vital.
- The boss’s only true weakness is the glowing core at its center, which is exposed after the boss has unleashed a few attacks.
- As avoiding every attack from the Crimson Nightmare can be difficult, you can expose the core by using Focused Repulsion. Two wind blasts are generally more than enough to stun the boss for a few seconds, letting you rack up damage.
- Another great way to expose the core is by using Axiom Force (L3) to pull it out of the Crimson Fog. However, I personally have found using Focused Repulsion more reliable, as you don't have to aim.
