Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the latest in Ubisoft’s blockbuster series, and a bit of a throwback to an earlier time for the series. Rather than a big overstuffed RPG, Mirage is more of a traditional action-adventure experience, and as such, some folks more used to recent games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Valhalla may need to adjust slightly.
As with most games in the series Assassin’s Creed Mirage delivers one thing in spades – map icons. Lots and lots of map icons. Honestly, it can be a bit baffling at first. What do all those things popping up on your radar actually mean? What should you do when you see them? Here’s a quick rundown…
Collectibles and Side Quests
- Gear chest – This one’s pretty simple. A special chest that contains a new piece of gear. These are often hidden or under guard.
- Lost Book – There are a half-dozen of these Lost Books scattered around Baghdad. You’ll have to solve a puzzle of some kind to claim them. Once you get one take it to the Book Collector in the House of Wisdom in order to earn Favor Tokens.
- Dervis’ Artifacts – These are treasures that can be pickpocketed off people. There are a dozen total. Take these items back to Dervis and he’ll reward you with crafting materials and, eventually, a new outfit.
- Mysterious Shards – Much like Dervis’ Artifacts, the Mysterious Shards have to be pickpocketed off people, although they’re a little trickier to get as your target will usually be guarded. There are a total of 10 Mysterious Shards. Take them to the secret cave underneath the Oasis north of Baghdad and trade them for some of the best gear in the game.
- Enigmas – A dozen Enigmas are hidden around the map, each of which provides you with a riddle or crude map that will send you to another, hidden location. Find that location and you’ll earn a cosmetic prize.
- Tales of Baghdad – Simple story moments you can stumble across when exploring the city. Finding one of these will often reward you with an Ability point.
Services and Other Important Icons
- Trader - Buy consumables and crafting items.
- Blacksmith - Upgrade your weapons.
- Tailor - Upgrade your gear.
- Stable - Customize mounts and your eagle.
- Cartographers - Reveal hidden treasures in exchange for Scholar Tokens.
- Historical sites - Get some fun factoids about Baghdad!
- Munadi - Pay them a Favor Token to eliminate your Notoriety.
- Mercenaries, Merchant Groups, and Musicians – All of these can be paid tokens to distract guards so you can sneak in places unseen.
