HKC Reveals M10 Ultra Monitor Based on New RGB Mini LED Technology; Boasts 100% BT.2020 Color Gamut and DP 2.1 Connectivity
Recently, it was reported that the Chinese monitor maker, HKC, will soon announce the world's first RGB Mini LED gaming monitor, but nothing was revealed about the specifications. Today, we got some crucial info from @realVictor_M, who shared the first glimpse of the new monitor called "M10 Ultra", which is the first monitor based on the RGB Mini LED technology.
As per the report, the M10 Ultra boasts 4K resolution and runs at a high 165 Hz refresh rate for a fluid gaming experience. The monitor can switch to an FHD@330Hz as well, offering competitive experience. Moreover, just as we previously speculated, this one brings a wide color gamut and even more impressive BT.2020 color coverage of 100%. We don't know the screen size, but it might be around 27 inches (not confirmed yet). The pic shows thin bezels but quite a beefy design. The monitor stand appears to be fully ergonomic, allowing various adjustments.
The monitor will also have an RGB ring at the back for aesthetics. While the I/O connectivity ports aren't visible in the pic, the monitor is said to feature a 98W Power Delivery USB Type-C port and a DisplayPort 2.1. So, finally, we have the latest DP connection, which even many high-end monitors lack. Recently, ASUS also launched a flagship 5K IPS monitor, but it brings the older DP 1.4 interface. For 4K at 165 Hz, DisplayPort 2.1 is the appropriate interface, as DP 1.4 lacks the bandwidth for uncompressed output, even at 8-bit, let alone 10-bit.
The M10 Ultra might be one of the best mini LED monitors that could challenge OLED, thanks to its incredible color reproduction, accuracy, and vivid image quality, which is achieved with RGB LEDs instead of just blue or white LEDs. The M10 Ultra can reportedly deliver 1000 nits of brightness in HDR mode, and we have read reports that suggest such displays can boost up to 8,000 nits of peak brightness while preserving the color purity.
HKC hasn't announced its pricing or availability yet, and we are interested to know more about its specs. Hopefully, this brings a major shift in the display market.
