A new Unicode bug has been discovered that carries the capability of crashing apps and operating systems. From WhatsApp on Android to iMessage on iOS, the bug is causing apps to crash and act strangely. We will not share the exact string here but for the most part, it includes a black dot and a left-pointing emoji along with other characters, whereby, giving the bug a name. Unicode Bug String Causing iMessage To Crash And More On iOS 11.3 And iOS 11.4 - Here's A Fix!

The device that the Unicode string is present on cannot render it properly which leads to system crashes. If you have experienced the bug on iOS, you can simply delete the conversation that contains the Unicode string message. We have listed the step by step instructions below to fix the Unicode bug, so do follow it if you have been a victim of it. Do take note that the steps mentioned below work on iPhone 6s and newer devices.

1. The first thing that you have to do is force close the iMessage app and then ask Siri to send a reply to the sender of that message. This will prevent the Unicode bug message to not appear in the recent bubble.
2. Now, 3D Touch on the Messages app and tap on New Message in the pop-up menu.
3. Once you do that, tap on the Cancel button in the top-right corner and then tap on Edit in the top-left.
4. Now tap the circle to the left of the conversation that houses the Unicode bug message.
5. A blue check mark will appear. Now tap on the Delete button in the bottom-right corner.

For those of you who do not have a 3D Touch functionality built in, you can simply follow the steps provided below.

1. First and foremost, force close the iMessage app and then ask Siri to send a reply to the sender of the Unicode bug message as many times as you can so that the message goes way up in conversation and out of the screen.
2. Now open the Message app and tap on the back button to go back to the conversation list.
3. Tap on Edit and then tap on the circle to the left of the conversation that contains the message.
4. A blue check mark will appear, now, tap on Delete in the bottom right to delete the message.

Deleting the message on iCloud on other devices would also do the trick on iOS 11.4 and iOS 10.13.5. The bug has an effect on both iOS 11.3 as well as iOS 11.4 and Apple has yet to devise a fix. There will be more details on the matter, so be sure to stay tuned in for more details.
