Heavy-Duty Intel Granite Rapids Xeon CPU Cooler Spotted, Dynatron L38 Up To 700W Cooling For LGA 7529 CPUs 1

Intel will launch its next-gen Granite Rapids Xeon CPUs for servers in 2024 which will require some beefy cooling solutions, delivering up to 700W of power.

Intel Granite Rapids Xeon "LGA 7529" CPU Coolers Show Up With Up To 700W Chip Cooling Capacity

The Intel Granite Rapids Xeon CPUs will replace the 5th Gen Emerald Rapids chips and launch after the E-Core-only Sierra Forest. Based on the Redwood Cove P-Core architecture, the Granite Rapids CPUs will be compatible with the Birch Stream platform in LGA 4710 and LGA 7529 socket flavors.

Now, server cooling equipment maker, Dynatron, has listed one of the first CPU coolers for Intel's Granite Rapids Xeon CPUs. The product is named "L38" and features a cooling capacity of 700W. It's twice the cooling capacity of Intel's existing flagship, the Xeon Platinum 8490H which offers a total of 60 cores and 120 threads. Considering that Granite Rapids-SP chips will offer an increased core count, we can expect the TDPs to rise and the actual power consumption to be pretty high. Intel's Sapphire Rapids Xeon CPUs have PL2 ratings as high as 700W too.

The fans used on the radiator are three 80mm designs with a massive duct-based design that can operate at up to 8000 RPM and deliver up to 115.61 CFM of airflow at 57.00 dBA at maximum output. The power rating for the fans is 24.72W at 100% load. The noise that these fans produce will be a lot but considering that they are designed for server environments, it's to be expected.
