Alkimia Interactive and THQ Nordic debuted a good chunk of gameplay we'd not yet seen from the Gothic 1 Remake today during the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2025, but at the tail end of that trailer was an announcement exclusively for console players. Gothic Classic, Gothic 2 Complete Classic, and Gothic 3 Classic, the original trilogy of Gothic games, will be coming to PlayStation and Xbox sometime in 2026.
The trailer showed some footage from each of the retro games on consoles, sporting their original box-y and jagged visuals that have been smoothed out with HD visuals for modern audiences, though beyond the 2026 release window, the trailer didn't give us any big details on what to expect from these console ports.
2026 is a Gothic-centric year, as the upcoming remake of the first game was delayed into early 2026 as part of today's proceedings, meaning it'll be nearly seven years since the remake was announced to its release date.
As for these classic games finally making their way to consoles, a 2026 release window marks 20 years since the last brand-new Gothic game came out. Now, players who've never known what it is to be a PC gamer can learn where games like The Witcher 3, The Elder Scrolls, and even more recently Elden Ring, got some of their inspirations from.
