Chrome 77 on the web and Android brings forth a bevy of new and exciting features, many of which have been around on other browsers for years. Let's take a look at what some of them are.

Redesigned Tab layout

The new Tab layout will let users hover over tabs to display additional information about said tab. It is especially useful for users (myself included) who have dozens of tabs open at the same time. It was cumbersome to determine the contents of a tab as the reduced box size obscured all important details. Now, a simple hover over the tap will display information about it. For now, you’ll see the page title, and soon you’ll see a thumbnail of the page too.

Tab Groups

Tab Groups is yet another useful feature for the tab-o-holics out there. This will let you group tabs that you like into lots which helps you keep track of the tabs that are open. All one needs to do is drag and drop one tab on top of another in the new tab grid layout. After opening one of the grouped tabs, you can easily switch between the tabs in the group using the new tab switcher at the bottom of the screen.

Sharing tabs between devices

Now, this is one feature I've been personally waiting for since I started using Chrome. Sharing links between devices was always a pain and I had to rely on sending myself links over Telegram. Now one can use Chrome to send a tab to another computer, phone, or tablet on which one is signed in and has sync enabled.

Chrome themes

Customizing your Chrome experience was always possible thanks to the Chrome App Store, but today, there are some in-built changes that'll make the experience a whole lot easier. Google is adding new customization options to the tab page. We can expect to see some new designs and patterns alongside the ability to change the color of the entire browser UI.

Search results in Address Bar

Searching for something in the Address Bar already showed us results for some queries in existing versions of Chrome. Google is further expanding this functionality by adding to the list of queries it can answer. You can now get information about sports, local weather and more in your taskbar.  Chrome 77 is rolling out now and should be available to all users in the coming days via a software update to the app.
