Google has officially launched the Pixel Watch 4, and it makes a bold move by introducing satellite connectivity ahead of Apple. The feature allows users to send emergency distress signals even in areas without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. Combined with advanced health tracking, a refined design, and reliable performance, the Pixel Watch 4 positions itself as a standout wearable for tech enthusiasts and users who want to focus on their health.
Pixel Watch 4 leads in satellite connectivity, health tracking, and design, while Apple Watch satellite feature remains under wraps
The Pixel Watch 4 features a curved Actua 360 display with 10 percent larger screen real estate and 16 percent smaller bezels than its predecessor. Custom Gorilla Glass protects the screen, while the aluminum frame keeps the watch lightweight but sturdy and durable at the same time. The Material 3 Expressive UI brings vibrant colors, dynamic clock faces, and glanceable interfaces, which will make information readily available with just a single tap or gesture. Google has also added a new haptic engine that delivers strong feedback, potentially similar to the Apple Watch, alongside upgraded speakers to ensure clearer audio during calls and notifications.
While all of these features are great to have, the highlight of the upgrade, in my opinion, is the new Satellite Connectivity in the Pixel Watch 4. As mentioned, users can now send emergency signals in remote areas without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, giving Google a clear advantage over Apple, whose satellite features are still under development. The new feature beats Apple in wearables, where real-world safety and connectivity are crucial. The feature uses dedicated low-earth orbit satellites to transmit SOS messages, ensuring help can reach users in remote locations.
Apple is said to be working on the feature, and while the exact launch time frame is unknown at this stage, we believe that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 11 will be equipped with Satellite Connectivity. Apple is already familiar with the feature and its utilities, as the latest iPhone models have helped hundreds of users over the years. Google’s Pixel Watch 4 will aim to do the same, and it has the first-mover advantage currently. How did you like the new design of the Pixel Watch 4? Let us know in the comments.
